Founded in 1999 and based in Austin, Texas, Netspend is a technology company specializing in reloadable prepaid debit cards that are not linked to existing bank accounts. It offers both Mastercard and Visa cards for those who don’t have access to a bank account or depend on alternative financial services. What Is FlashPay?
FlashPay is a Netspend service you can use to transfer money to and from your prepaid debit card. You may send or receive funds with others who have Netspend debit cards along with ACE Elite, Control, and Purpose cardholders. To send money, you’ll need the other person’s name and FlashPay ID. You can also use your own FlashPay ID to receive money from your friends and family.

It’s fairly simple to send and receive money on Netspend. To do so, follow these steps.
Send Money
- Find out the other person’s name and FlashPay ID. (We’ll discuss how to get their FlashPayID below.)
- Log in to your Online Account Center.
- Enter the recipient’s name, FlashPay ID, and the amount you want to send.
You can also send money via bank transfer if you have a bank account. Other ways to send money include using your Netspend account with WesternUnion or PayPal. In addition, you can use your Netspend account number and routing number to pay bills online.
Receive Money
- Make sure your friends and family know your FlashPay ID. (We’ll discuss how to get it below.)
- Tell them to log in to their Online Account Center.
- Once they enter your name, FlashPay ID, and the amount they want to send, you’ll receive the funds into your account.
Where To Find Your FlashPay ID
To find your FlashPay ID, you’ll need to start from the beginning and get a Netspend card. Here’s how:
- Visit Netspend.com and click on “Sign Up Now.”
- Fill out the online form, which will ask for your name, address, and email address. You must also indicate which payments you’d like to receive via direct deposit (paycheck, tax refund, government benefits, none, etc.).
- Choose the card you prefer.
- Review the cardholder agreement and privacy policy.
- Click “Get My Card.”
- Wait for seven to 10 business days to receive your Netspend card in the mail.
- While you wait for your card, create your online profile with a username and password.
- Activate your online account via a one-time passcode that you’ll receive in your email.
- Log in to find your Online Account Center, where you’ll find your FlashPayID.
